α Mr. Takao's Profile and Works Ω

Mr. Takao, the dedicated lecturer at this adult class for cultural and religious studies, is one of the most established, prestigious scholars of Japan specialized in philosophy and sociology of religion. His biography shown below will give you a general idea of what he is and what he has done.   Mr. Takao's Biography
1930 Born in Yamanashi Prefecture
1944〜




He chose to be transferred to Suwa Junior High School in Nagano Prefecture. Here, he encountered a number of very distinguished teachers and friends, some of them even conveyed their anti-war messages in the midst of the stormy militarism dominating over Japan in those days. They greatly influenced Mr. Takao as a young boy and fostered his intellectual and spiritual growth
1950〜



Though he started his college life as a medical student, he was given an opportunity to study in the USA at Abilene Christian University in Texas. After graduating from this quite fundamentalistic institution, he further studied at Colombia University and Union Theological Seminary.

1959

Completed the course of MA at Tokyo Union Theological Seminary and continued his study in the doctoral course.
1959〜



After teaching at Ibaraki Christian College, Nagoya Gakuin University and Kanto Gakuin University, he was invited by Hosei University, one of the five biggest universities in Tokyo and taught there ethics, German language, and sociology of religion at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

1985〜

 

He was invited by an adult class organized by an NGO named Kanagawa CO-OP in Shin-yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture to give series of lectures on religious phenomena in modern societies, which are still under way as seen from this website.
2001 Retired from Hosei University with the title of Professor Emeritus
