In Buddhism we have such a wonderful expression as "Kan-on" (Seeing the Sound). "Seeing the Sound" is possible only for Bodhisattvas, who fervently pray not only for their own salvation, but also for the salvation of all people. They are always ready to listen to wailing and crying masses of people. These Bodhisattvas alone can speak the words of true wisdom and bring about true blessings to them, because they can listen and "see" (truly understand) the very substance of the troubles of people.
Words contain very subtle and superb categories. There are such words that can be categorized as scientific. It is descriptive and fit for things that can be grasped objectively. And there are words categorized as inter-subjective and symbolic (dialogue, philosophy and literature). Furthermore there are non- dichotomous, madala- oriented words (poetical and deeply religious language). Unless we sincerely discern these differences and "differances"(J.Derria), our "talking" can easily deteriorate into a "fraud" ( in Japanese "katari" can mean both "talk" and "fraud"!). It is indeed a serious warning.
The word "professor" originally meant "he who speaks in front of others". It is "kyoju" in Japanese, which literally means "granting certain lessons". What an arrogant word! It is really a terrifying deed we have committed ourselves in! I just cannot forget the following admonition found in the New Testament.

After all, as clarified above with regards to "mystery", life as a whole can never be described fully in words.

Kairoi explained above are mainly on personal level. It is, however, quite inadequate dropping many important aspects and dimensions. After all, human beings can live only so far as they flock together. Without their "communality" such a peculiar ability of linguistic activity is not possible. Their communality has determined them long before they became aware of their individuality. In that sense, the kairos consciousness itself was, since their primordial ages, determined by its communal and synchronic nature. This reality can be overlooked particularly in the Western consciousness since the modern age, which tended to emphasize "individuality" often excessively. In contemporary societies, this trans-personal phase is being emphasized again with ever deepening consciousness.
When Alfred Adler, who founded "Individual Psychology", emphasized strenuously "social feeling" (Gemeinschaftsgefuhl) as the most basic and important attitude, he must have been conscious of this reality.
As is well known, there was a special period in human history called "the axial age", namely 6-4th centuries before common era. During this age, there emerged many influential people both in the West and East who had contributed greatly to the history of thought: Confucius, Mengzi ( Meng-tsu), Gautama Buddha, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Isaiah, Jeremiah, et al. to name a few. It is still unknown why this kind of phenomenon took place. It might be possible, however, to understand it in such a way that in the process of human evolution such an important psychic development had somehow emerged synchronically. The meaningful studies about "synchronicity" pursued by Carl Gustav Yung, for example, might suggest some important insights. And the concept of "Planetary Mind Field" described above might be a guideline, too.
In any case it seems certain that within the consciousness of human beings as one race transcending the differences between the West and East common insight and intuition were realized almost simultaneously. This phenomenon was called "The spirit of the Age"(Zeitgeist) in modern age. In our days this sort of sense is expressed as "paradigm change". This new term is often understood as "a frame of thinking". This expression might give an impression as if it only refers to certain frameworks within the sphere of natural science. It would be better, therefore, to express it as
" change of consciousness".
Within many areas of natural science many meaningful cases have been reported that some important and fundamental changes of framework to grasp natural phenomena have been discovered or proposed rather simultaneously in places widely separated both geographically and culturally. Something must be emerging synchronically to many minds which are on the same level of development. Could it be recognized as "the sign of the age"?
A very penetrating word of Jesus of Nazareth has been handed down to us directed to the Sadducees and Pharisees (in our context, they may be referred to as those who have deteriorated the traditional historical ideas into petrified and materialized "dead dogmas").

We might say that this interpreting the signs of the times means to live kairos- wise.
